Dsquared2: A stylish amalgamation of glam-rock t-shirts and ripped jeans

Dsquared2 is hip, stylish, exciting and one of a kind. Its unique look – an interesting blend of street style and tailored high fashion infused with tongue-in-cheek irreverence and an urban edge – has set its founders apart on the designer scene. Initially a menswear brand, the founding brothers decided to launch a follow-up collection of ladieswear in 2004 comprising jersey dresses, miniskirts, woolly bonnets and pastel coloured trench coats to complement their numerous flagship stores worldwide. On the men’s side, playful graphic-print tees, slim-fit pullovers and distressed denimwear epitomise Dsquared2’s cool and casual ethos. The label’s lux approach to urban fashion has won the designers a steady stream of A-List fans, including Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz. Their line of street-style baseball caps and leather biker boots stand in stark contrast to the satin waistcoats and velvet blazers, but this just serves to complement their diverse look.

Dsquared2: The American Dream meets Italian tailoring

Canadian-born designers Dean and Dan Caten are considered the most flamboyant duo heading the fashion scene and released their signature womenswear collection in 2004. This came a decade after the inception of their world-renowned menswear brand akin the likes of Versace and Diesel. Often donning the same outfit at events, it can be rather difficult to distinguish the identical duo. The label’s luxurious approach to urban dressing has made it a favourite among those in the music scene, including Fergie and Rihanna, both of whom have made catwalk appearances wearing Dsquared2. But despite the legendary catwalk performances, the emphasis stays on those sexy, rustic classics—denim, tartan, flannels and knitwear—which the duo cut and tailor into an irresistible range of pret-a-porter.
