PACO RABANNE

Getting his start as a jewelry designer for iconic fashion houses Givenchy, Dior, and Balenciaga, Spanish fashion designer Paco Rabbane founded his cutting-edge namesake label at the height of the Swinging Sixties. Best known for his impossibly short mini-dresses rendered in unconventional materials like metal, paper, and plastic, Rabanne helped to design the distinctive look of this fashion-forward era.  Enlisting sartorial savant Lydia Maurer as the new artistic director, this enduring label has been infused with the classic elements that informed its original vision. From chainmail dresses and sleek tailored pieces that recall French chanteuse Francoise Hardy, Rabbane’s lifelong fan, Maurer, who spent her formative years at Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy, has helped to translate the tradition of the brand but with a decidedly modern edge.
