Carven

Founded by Madame Carmen de Tommasobut in 1945, Paris maison Carven famously catered to a who’s-who of film stars and royals, focusing solely on couture. Resurrected in 2009 by Givenchy and Paule Ka alum Guillaume Henry, the house has since become synonymous with French chic and laidback charm, evident in its sought-after ready-to-wear and accessories collections. Playful patterns, pristine tailoring, and a casually elegant aesthetic predominate, glimpsed in flirty minis, structured jackets, and eye-catching animal prints. Slick and streamlined, Henry’s SS15 collection was built around clean lines, ‘60s silhouettes, and a stark, graphic palette, punched up with colorful blocks of print.

Carven: Flared printed dresses with clean lines for a 60’s silhouette

No longer the sleepy fashion house of old-school French couture, Carven has been transformed under the creative reign of Guillaume Henry and is now a beacon of French charm and laidback chic. Established in the 1940’s by Madame Carmen de Tommasobut, the brand maintains its playful patterns and pristine tailoring by way of flared skirts and dresses, yet innovates and captivates today’s fashionistas with colourful blocks of prints and pixelated floral pattern.

Carven: Chic and tongue-in-cheek

Cheeky, irreverent and undeniably quirky, it’s fair to say that Carven’s latest menswear collection comprising tongue-in-cheek jumpers is pretty incongruous with the conventional view of the luxury fashion market. Grey and black pullovers bearing bold graphic prints of garbage bins and traffic cones don’t exactly scream haute couture, and yet this designer has drawn on inspiration from world travel to artistic motifs to create an innovative, one-of-a-kind line of men’s casualwear. Style Carven’s cotton sweatshirt with straight legged jeans, sneakers and a leather biker jacket to complete the look.
