Maison Michel

Maison Michel has been the go-to brand for headwear since it was founded in Paris in 1936. Having made hats for Yves Saint Laurent in the 70s, and Christian Lacroix, Lanvin and Chanel – who later purchased the label - in the 80s, the esteemed brand is now being reimagined with Priscilla Royer as creative director. Having previously worked for Vivienne Westwood and started her own fashion line alongside her sister, the newly appointed Royer is reviving the label with youthful vigor and strong character. To this day the brand prioritizes know-how, technical expertise and individuality, and with Royer at the helm, the newest styles are some of the most innovative and inspiring yet.

Established in Paris in 1936, the Maison Michel has been crafting meticulously-designed hats for some of the biggest names in haute couture and prêt-a-porter, from the likes of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Cardin in the 70’s to Christian Lacroix, Givenchy and Chanel in more recent times. Spearheading the label since 2006 is Chanel’s Head of Jewellery and Accessories Laetitia Crahay, whose penchant for accessories has taken the illustrious brand from strength to strength.

Always at the forefront of cutting-edge design

Appointing Chanel’s Laetitia Crahay as artistic director gave rise to a series of elegant creations both sensual and quirky. From classic styles such as the bonnet, feather fascinator and trilby, to more contemporary designs such as the beanie, Laetitia Crahay has transformed the way we see and perceive headwear. Seductive and fresh with a solid brand identity, her creations are perfectly in tune with the cultural zeitgeist of the time and have their own laidback aesthetic, employing feathers, lace, pearls and chains to embellish and add a bit of glamour to a look that harmonizes femininity with rock-chic.
