The Kooples

Established in 2008, Paris-based contemporary label The Kooples takes its name from the English word for “couples,” and indeed features real-life lovers and partners in its ubiquitous, eye-catching advertisements. Marrying (wink, wink) the idea of borrowing from a lover’s closet with core sartorial tenets like polished tailoring and snake-hipped, rock ?n’ roll chic, The Kooples creates pieces for a modern, inspired downtown darling. Founded by brothers Alexandre, Lauren and Raphael Elicha (themselves the sons of Comptoir des Cotonniers’ founders) The Kooples has gained an enviable foothold in the fashionsphere in very short order. Renowned bespoke Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons creates The Kooples’ shirt, suit and coat patterns, lending the label’s typically slick pieces a healthy dose of British heritage cool. Clean lines, androgynous styling and vintage influences from style stalwarts like Jane Birkin and Keith Richards consistently inform the elegant-meets-edgy collections.

The Kooples: Clothes swapping never looked so stylish

Founded in 2007 by brothers Alexandre, Laurent and Raphaël Elicha, The Kooples is a high-end French fashion brand whose signature aesthetic is a combination of chic and modern for both men and women. Through sleek and refined silhouettes The Kooples maintains its effortless elegance as well as superior quality of its tailored garments. The line focuses on perfectly tailored clothes with a military elegance and rock vibe; its concept is based on the notion that those in relationships frequently wear each other’s clothes, and for this reason the majority of the collection is slightly more androgynous then effeminate.

Clean lines and androgynous styling from vintage influences

The Kooples draws its inspiration predominantly from iconic couples of the vintage rock era. With over 110 standalone boutiques and 350 retail points across Europe and the U.S., The Kooples is undoubtedly one of the most illustrious and established French brands of today. It’s also worth mentioning that The Kooples shoes and accessories are equally as coveted and typically embellished with mini skulls. Part of their varied and versatile collection is also silk leopard print dresses, leather panel zip front skirts and cropped leather jackets.
