Victoria by Victoria Beckham: Taking it back with block colour shift dresses and tunics

Victoria by Victoria Beckham is the British style icon’s second label which she brought out during the Spring/Summer 2012 collections. She described her latest designs as much more playful, casual and feminine than the first line. "These are dresses that I myself have long sought for in vain," mused the designer. “The perfect little summer dress, something that was fun, something that was girly, something that was easy to wear, something that would take you from day through to night.” Despite her new range’s lower price points she’s adamant to show that it's not a second line, or a diffusion line – “it's another side to my wardrobe”. According to the former-spice-girl-turned-fashion-designer, her dresses evoke a youthful playfulness among women and make them feel young again, so there’s no wonder why the label was inspired by Emily the Strange, the goth-chick cartoon character notable for her A-Line dresses.

Victoria by Victoria Beckham: Another side to your wardrobe

Although her latest collection lends itself more readily to a wider audience due to more affordable price tags, Victoria Beckham shies away from calling it a diffusion line. She wants to emphasise function and wearability by giving her look a more youthful, day-to-day feel using colourblock shift dresses and lady-like tunics. Against the backdrop of her eponymous figure-hugging collection is a line that combines loose-fitting, sixties shapes with a vibrant colour palette and effeminate detailing such as ruffles, bows and pleats. Her intricately embroidered pieces and sequin patterned creations were met with praise from fashion critics and journalists around the world.
